Park Lane Bowling was established in 1982 under the management of Hall of Fame bowler George Pappas. Pappas came charging onto the Tour from the South to almost instant acclaim and success. He captured the Miller High life Open and Buffalo Open on the 1970 Winter Tour and was one of the PBA’s shining stars for years. A righthander with a classic swing and stroke, Pappas recorded the biggest triumph of his career when he captured the 1979 Firestone Tournament of Champions, leading the rich and prestigious event from the opening round to its conclusion. His best season money-wise came in 1984 when he collected his ninth and 10th PBA titles and earned more than $100,000. In addition to his performance on the lanes, Pappas served many years as Chairman of the PBA’s Tournament Committee and served two terms as PBA President.
